-Recently released diva Serena posted the following on her twitter:
To each and every one of my extraordinary fans, I would like to thank you for your love and support. The past year of my life has been an amazing journey. The people I’ve come to know will always be in my heart and the unique places I’ve been have shown me how beautiful the world is. I feel very blessed. I fell madly in love with pro wrestling when I was just 11 years old. I pursued my childhood dream with every ounce of passion I had and I couldn’t be more proud of where my career has gone so far. I am so excited about the future and continuing to become as great as I can be, hopefully inspiring others along the way. “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined”…Dreams do come true ☺.. I love you all– Serena
-The Daily Record in Great Britain ran a story on the WWE suspension of Smackdown Diva Tiffany (Taryn Terrell) today, including a comment from a WWE Spokesperson, who stated, “WWE are aware of the situation and have taken appropriate disciplinary action.”
-The Boston Herald has a “local boy makes good” story on John Cena today. It talks about tomorrow’s 900th edition of Raw and Cena’s new movie “Legendary”.
There were a few quotes that interested me in the piece such as Cena saying, “I play a superhuman on WWE television and I played damn near a superhuman in ‘12 Rounds’ and ‘The Marine.’ ”
It’s nice to see that he knows it at least.
In talking about Cena breaking in to WWE Vince McMahon said, “You have to start with the quality of the human being. John is an extraordinary human being; he’s honest, he’s loyal. He’s full of himself, too. But he’s like a throwback to the type of individual it’s difficult find these days, someone with old-fashioned values. In addition to that, he’s a Neanderthal when it comes to strength.”
As for how Cena broke out ahead of the pack Vince McMahon said he held a meeting with talent and said he was looking for someone to break out. He said, “Step on people on the way over if you have to. Apologize later. I’m looking for someone with courage that wants to break out and be ballsy enough to take on the responsibility of being the top guy. “At the end of the meeting, someone came over and said, ‘I’m your man,’ and that was John.”
-WWE Divas Champion Melina has posted on her WWE Universe page, where she gives thanks for winning the title for the fifth time and defines the word champion.
I am so thankful for all of the Tweets and support I have gotten regarding winning the Diva’s Championship. It’s unreal. My fifth title reign and it’s an astounding accolade. Everything in my life leading to that point in time…. the bad and good; all the hardships, all the haters who judged me with out even getting to know me & much more. On the other side I’ve been blessed to have the people that have touched my life and made that win at Summer Slam an unforgettable moment that will be treasured for the rest of my life. Thank you for that.
I have said this many of times; the title does not define me, I define the title. Many women through out wrestling history have defined the titles they fought for. Their love, desire, pride and respect gave their titles significance. These women stood for something; affected people’s lives; caused change… They are the ones that changed a piece of shiny metal into a prestigious symbol to be held by the greats.
Just because a person holds a title doesn’t make them a champion. We have seen people Forrest Gump their way to a title. Granted, a win is a win, but a champion is a champion with or without the title. To be a true champion is rare, and it can’t be faked. When a champion holds a title, they give it meaning.
-dictionary definition of “champion”– A person who has defeated all opponents in competition, a fighter/ warrior… a person who fights for or defends any person or cause.
Being the kind of champion I’m talking about is more than holding the coveted Championship in your hands for all to see. It’s how you carry yourself. What you stand for. Overcoming obstacles. Standing up/fighting for what you love and cherish.
Whether I am seen as a champion or not, I put my heart into an art that I believe in. I fight because I love it, even when it doesn’t seem to love me.
“Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. – It’s harsh, and cruel. But that’s why there’s us. Champions. It doesn’t matter where we come from, what we’ve done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world was what it should be, to show it what it can be.”
I have faith that women’s wrestling can be great and it can be more than what it is. I know it will be. Through it all, I hope to help add honor to the adorned championship and live up to what it means to be a Champion.
World Wrestling Entertainment has reportedly released Serena from her contract. Details surrounding her apparent departure have yet to be disclosed.
The official WWE website has yet to release a statement regarding her dismissal from the organization.
Serena made her WWE in-ring debut during last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, defeating Kelly Kelly in a mixed tag match.
-Corresponding with PWInsider.com, both Figure Four Weekly Online and the Pro Wrestling Torch are reporting that Serena has been released from World Wrestling Entertainment.
While specific details surrounding her abrupt departure from the organization have yet to be disclosed, it said that she was let go in a disciplinary measure. The Pro Wrestling Torch cryptically notes that she was not “living out” her Straight Edge Society persona in public.
The decision to cut the six-time Ohio Valley Wrestling Women’s Champion was actually made a few days ago, but word had not surfaced until Monday night.
It would appear that an official announcement has not yet been made by WWE as she’s due to make an appearance on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, which was taped last Wednesday. She accompanies Luke Gallows to the ring for a match against Big Show.
