As Jan. 4 approaches, a source told WrestleZone.com that TNA has reached an agreement with Scott Hall and Sean Waltman to work on a “pay as you play” basis. No long-term contracts will be signed; Hall and Waltman will be employed as long as their performance and off-screen behavior warrants. TNA reportedly sees Hall and Waltman as short-term hires even in the best of scenarios.

TNA is also pushing hard to sign Jeff Hardy and Ric Flair before Jan. 4. Hardy, of course, is still dealing with legal matters stemming from his September drug bust. Flair, meanwhile, would be involved in a three-way “icons” program with Hulk Hogan and Sting if he signs with TNA. The actual ring time of all three would be very limited.

Most of the contracts of TNA’s incoming big names, such as Hogan and Flair, will reportedly be guaranteed by Panda Energy.

Monday Night Mayhem DVD Review: The Hardy Show: Season 7

Produced by The HardyShow.com

Written By: “Wild” Bill Brown

****

Content: 9.5

In the seventh installment of this innovative series, “The Hardy Show” expands past the limits, and showcases the widest variety of their personalities ever. Enjoy the mystery, the intrigue, the creativity, & the unknown here as “The Hardy Show: Season 7″ brings to you ten brand-new episodes of all different kinds. For almost three hours, this DVD will make any wrestling fan, whether you like The Hardy’s or not, get sucked into watching & understanding the topics being told by the titles displayed. Take this incredible view at a vast spectrum of inspiring acting & masterful displays from some truly creative & outgoing minds.

****

Audio/Video: 9.5

Keeping in mind that this is not produced by a million dollar television studio (or anything similar), one has to be simply amazed by not only the camera work & clarity of anything being shown, but the presentation & musical effects that are constant throughout the DVD. This is incredibly well-produced & so easy to be grasped by the enjoyment of what’s being shown that “The Hardy Show: Season 7″ may exceed almost any expectation of a video production made for DVD.

****

What’s On The DVD?

Watch all your favorite characters: Matt, Jeff, Shannon, Kimo, Itchweeed, Beth, & many more, as they showcase ten different episodes of both imaginative & reality TV.

The first episode of Season 7 is actually titled “The Us Show,” where The Hardy’s & Shannon were put out to pasture, and their enemies were trying to make a better show with their own ideas. The humor is great, and the story is telling — all the way through the ending & return of Matt, Jeff, & Shannon.

As you go through the DVD, Episode 2 has a crazy Halloween contest, hosted by Itchweeed, with some out of the ordinary characters competing against one another.

Episode 3 features “The Artist,” and you will get to see Jeff’s deep passion for his own arts & paintings, as well as foils & statues. You will see how unbelievably talented & how patient Jeff is when it comes to any form of creative art developments. An awesome episode to check out.

Episode 4 is from the old days, a Hardy classic from 1996 titled “A Million Reasons To Live, A Billion Reasons To Die,” and shows the first few years & early days of their innovative creativity & charisma that develops.

Episode 5 is “The Gamble,” and you will see a game where what’s at stake to the loser is beyond your normal requirements. What will happen, and how does it take place? Find out here!

Episode 6 is a “Spotlight On Gas Chamber Ink,” which is Shannon Moore’s personal tattoo shop. See how “The Prince Of Punk” runs his own private business & what they have for their clients.

Episode 7 Is “The Nine Man Meeting.” Matt Hardy will bring to you one interesting discussion, containing nine Season 7 Hardy Show DVDseparate personalities.

Episode 8 features “Chef Jeff” and his style of cooking & grilling. You will get the feel as if you were invited to the Hardy house, as they tell stories & share humor, as well as present tips on their menu foods for the evening.

Episode 9 is the “Y? Light Zone,” and brings out the uniqueness of a prescribed medicine & the outrageousness that can be brought out by it. Jeff sees some crazy stuff, but the story is compelling to watch & goes beyond your normal mindset.

The final episode, Episode 10, is titled “Champs.” This is the best chapter of the bunch, as it gives any Hardy fan a healthy appetite for the Hardy’s appreciation for all of the support they have been given & how it excelled them to be at the top of their game. Matt & Jeff at this time both became World Champions at the same time in the same company, a feat that had never yet been done, and you (the viewer) will be showcased this appreciation & given a chance to share in a round of applause for The Hardy Boyz.

****

Overall Recommendation:

If you enjoy Matt or Jeff, the things that they do or the style of their lives, this is a must-have DVD. Believe the hype on this, and check it out; “The Hardy Show S7″ is the best one yet since the creation of this series.

****

Final Thoughts:

www.TheHardyShow.com is the official website to visit & see the older versions of their reality series, as well as all other titles that they have to offer. “The Hardy Show: Season 8″ is also in the works & soon-to-be-released, and all the upcoming information can be found there pertaining to “The Best Show Not On TV…” yet.

Overall Rating: 9.5

Taz Talks TNA Moves to Mondays, Exiting WWE, Boosting Wrestling, MORE
Posted on December 31st, 2009 at 9:01 am by Wrestling News

taz3Newsday interview TNA commentator Taz regarding 1/4 Monday Night TNA Wrestling iMPACT Special. Here are a few highlights:

The idea of Impact moving to Mondays Permanently: “I hope so. I hope it becomes permanent. I think that people – especially wrestling fans – the time is definitely now that there’s an alternative. I think that TNA can be that alternative. You know, there’s a lot of cogs in the wheel at TNA, and if the wheel rolls straight, I think that we’ll be a pretty strong alternative down the road. Not right now. This is just a one-time deal, from what I’m being told. I’m excited about it, and I think it’s just the beginning of an extremely positive step, by not just TNA for wrestling fans, but by Spike TV to go out and do something like this and bang out three hours life. For people like Dixie Carter, the owner of our company, and Hulk Hogan to basically say we’re coming right at WWE, right at Monday Night Raw, I think that’s a very gutsy thing to say. And I’m very proud to be part of a company that has that kind of machismo.”

Hulk Hogan and the Current TNA Product:
“And one thing you mentioned that I want to touch on, in regards to saying that maybe – and this is your words – that maybe Hulk Hogan is behind the times. I don’t think Hulk Hogan is behind the times at all. I’m not buddies with Hulk Hogan, but when I was on Smackdown and Hulk Hogan was there, I got to know Hulk a little bit there. And to the contrary, he’s a very progressive thinker in the industry. So I’m excited about him coming in. And I think that, in my opinion, professionally, and on the record, I think that it’s not a bad thing if we get back to the basics a little bit. I believe let’s get back to the nuts and bolts of the business. I believe that’s what we need to do. And I don’t know if that’s Hulk Hogan’s vision. I’m not sure. But I hope so, because I think that’s the way we need to go. Let’s get back to basics a little bit.”

How Much Being Overproduced by Vince McMahon led to his WWE Exit: “In WWE, just like in TNA, you always have somebody in your ear. Everyone has to be produced. That’s the way it goes. I have the executive producer counting us. In WWE it was Kevin Dunn. Now in TNA it’s Keith Mitchell. And we get counted in and out of breaks, and when a video package is going to fly up on the screen and what not. You’ve got to be directed. That’s just TV production. At times Vince McMahon, sure, he would get a little active in people’s headsets. But it was a little overblown the way people talked about it. Listen, Vince McMahon was in my headset, just like he was in every announcer’s in WWE, and he still is, for – I don’t know. I was an announcer in WWE, I don’t know, seven years, eight years, whatever the heck it was. He was always in my ear. And all of a sudden I had this epiphany to leave WWE because Vince was in my ear? Fine. Great. No, there was a lot of reasons I left the company. Being over-produced was one of them. Yes, it was one of them. But not the main one. My schedule is a lot easier. I’m home with my family a little bit more. I’m not flying all over the world any more for TV’s. I’m mainly going to one place. I like that. I like the environment I work in. It’s a relaxed environment where you’ve got to do your best. And you’re a performer. You’re not micro-managed, and I’m a fan of that. So I like being part of something that’s on the upswing, that’s trying to climb that mountain. It’s always a struggle. I like that. I remember that from the original ECW days. I’m a fan of that.”

What Would Light a New Hot Period for Pro Wrestling:
” I think it comes down to giving people an alternative. Look at UFC and the mixed martial arts game. Their pay per view business if phenomenal. And the reason is that it’s real, and it’s kind of tough to compete with that. We’re entertainment. We’re a show. WWE is entertainment. It’s a show. But, like I said at the top of this interview, I’m big into action. And I believe in TNA we’ve got a roster full of guys that have the athletic ability as a roster that I would put up against anybody. Let these guys go out there and let their hair down and do their thing. That’s what I think. In my career, throughout all the promos I’ve done in ECW, I had a guy like Paul Heyman, who was my boss, would give me some bullet points and some direction. And the rest of that promo getting over was me delivering on the character that I was portraying. When I say getting back to basics, I think that’s something that the business needs. I’m a big believer in that. You get into this business to be a pro wrestler. You’re not an actor. The worst actors in the business are pro wrestlers. Acting is not good if you’re a wrestler. You’re a wrestler, you know what I mean?”

In Memory Of Steve Williams
Posted on December 31st, 2009 at 8:29 am by Wrestling News

IN MEMORY OF STEVE WILLIAMSSteve Williams

May 14, 1960 – December 29, 2009

We always talk about the angles up in heaven, and how they are there watching and guiding us. We always look up into the sky when we talk about angles and their work. The truth is the real angles are here on earth walking amongst us. They are the ones that were placed on earth to guide us and help us through our stay. Doc was an angle of this earth and only those who he has touched can truly understand what I am about to say. Docs work here is done and now God has rewarded him with peace and eternal rest.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing him when he was an adolescent, a great football player, or an amazing wrestler. I met Doc many years later after he retired and I had left the business and started Wrestlers Rescue. I started to receive these emails and letter in my mailbox from a young lady named Melonie. She wrote to me religiously begging me to find away to help Steve receive a hands free voice box. Her mail and emails haunted me. I could not get them out of my head. One night at about 4am in the morning I was lying in bed and I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why but I just seemed too preoccupied to relax enough to fall off to sleep. Finally, out of nowhere it all came clear. I realized that I was supposed to do something with the letters. I can remember that night. It was just one of those nights that seemed like so many others. But today I remember it as if it were just last night. I remember texting my friend and right hand person with Wrestlers Rescue Marty “Are you awake?” He instantly answered “yes I can’t sleep”. How ironic right? I started to tell him of these letters I was receiving from Melonie and how I can’t seem to get them out of my head. I then told him I’m supposed to do something with this. I am being told do something! We continued to talk and we came up with the 1st draft to the Dr. Death Campaign. By this time it was about 7am and I knew I couldn’t call this stranger that early in the morning to tell him of the plans we had just come up with. Finally, it was late enough in the morning to call and I did. I remember this raspy voice answering and saying “hello”. I then introduced myself and told him of the foundation and what we would like to try and do to help him. Little did I know that this was going to be about how he was going to help me. As the days followed I started to learn about him. You see I had only met him once in my career and it was at an appearance in NJ. That day I walked over to him and introduced myself, handed him my card and explained briefly what the foundation was about. I believe the foundation was only a few months old at that time. He placed his thumb over his stoma and said sweetheart it was a pleasure to meet you. He followed with digging into a bag he had on the cafeteria table with the rest of his stuff and pulled out a card for me and said “Sweetheart …if ever anything I can do for you” and placed it in my hand. I then peered down at his card and it was peaceful it had this giant hand absorbing a beam of light. I never saw a card like this but it looked like a safe place to be. Again, not knowing this man was going to be carrying me in his giant hand and showing me the light one day.

I started to call wrestlers from his era and started to inform them who I was and what Wrestlers Rescue was trying to do for their friend and fellow worker. By the time I had finished my conversations, I had realized they all had a common thread. They all gushed about what a great man he was, what a tremendous worker he was, how respected he was, how people looked up to him and were so proud of him on how he faced Cancer and won. I used the word faced because I feel after talking to those people CANCER didn’t have a fighting chance. By the end of the month and hearing multiple stories that all sounded like the first I had to called Steve right away. I remember I was driving down the highway in my car and I called.

I started our conversation by telling him, “Doc…. I have never ever heard so many nice stories about one human being in my entire life or about anyone in this crazy business of ours”. I said “usually you bring up someone’s name and you either get a great story or you get there ok”. Of Which the OK means they don’t care for you and would probably say worst if the wrestling world wasn’t so political. I proceeded to tell him how much everyone loved him and that people just gushed over him whenever his name came up and that I felt like I have known him for years. I also told him “I feel like I was right there with you throughout your career I have heard so much”. He was so happy he even began to cry a bit. He was so overwhelmed that people felt that way about him. I think it was so overwhelming to him because he never thought what he did or how he interacted with people was anything special. He was just himself without motive; no reason other than he was a genuine person and human being. He treated others better than he probably expected other to treat him. I am so happy I took the time to tell him that day because he was such a humble person I don’t think he would have realized how so many people loved him, respected him and looked up to him. Through this period of time I spent with Steve I learned to love the business again. He showed me why I started in the first place. He gave me my business back. This business is usually only given to someone once if they are lucky enough. This is when we are learning and striving to become someone great. The veterans of the business chose you and take their time to give you there knowledge to help you achieve what is in your heart. The first time I was given this business it was from Jimmy Snuka. He took the time to teach me his love for his business. Somewhere along the way I got lost and lost it. Through working with Doc I found that love for the business and the people in it again.

Recently, God directed him back to me to teach me my final lesson. He had an appearance here in NJ again, where I live and that I also happened to be appearing on. This was only the second appearance in my career we ever crossed paths. The first was where we met and the second was our good-bye. I just didn’t know it yet. We made plans to spend some time together while he was here. We talked about him coming to my home and meeting my children. But as usual, life got in the way and I was called off to work somewhere else immediately after the show so I had to rush off. We never did get together and he never had the chance to meet my babies or as he use to call them blessings when we talked about them in our many conversations throughout the campaign. That day came and went and with the hustle and bustle of the day I only had moments with him. Had only I known they would be my last. I feel that the last lesson I needed to learn from him was to slow down, live in the moment and enjoy your blessings! Doc, you were my angle. It is pretty ironic because you use to call me angel and never Dawn and I know in many interviews you also referred to me as that. But the truth was you were mine.…I not yours. You taught me many of life’s lessons in our too short relationship. I hope one day when my jobs here on this Earth are done, you will be one of the set of eyes there welcoming me and telling me thank you for hearing me and enjoying your life.
